Perfume
Perfume is a mixture of fragrant essential oils and/or aroma compounds, fixatives, and solvents used to give the human body, animals, objects, and living spaces "a pleasant scent"...

based on familiar, "everyday" scents, such as dirt, tomatoes, and chocolate chip cookies. The fragrances are intended to be an evocative, "idealized" representation of these scents, which Demeter calls "single experience fragrances" http://www.demeterfragrance.com/pearlsofw.aspx?r=17. This is in contrast to most traditional perfumes, which combine a larger range of scents to create more complex fragrances.

In 2007 Demeter introduced of the Jelly Belly Collection--a group of scents inspired by Jelly Belly jelly bean recipes--as well as Crayon ("smells like that fresh box of crayons on the first day of school"), Pure Soap ("The smell of freshly scrubbed skin"), and Egg Nog.

Demeter fragrances tend to last for a fairly short time, compared to traditional perfumes, when sprayed on the skin. The label on the bottles describes each as "pick-me-up cologne spray", rather than more usual perfumery categories such as eau de toilette or eau de parfum.

Besides its cologne sprays, Demeter Fragrance Library makes other products scented with the same fragrances, such as body lotion
