David Miles is a British continuity announcer and newsreader on BBC Radio 4.
Born in 1954, he joined the BBC in 1975 as a studio manager. Initially working at Bush House, he soon transferred to Broadcasting House. Between 1981 and 1987, and again between 1988 and 1995, he worked as a BBC Television announcer. In 1995 he became an announcer on Channel 4 (where he may have also worked during his sabbatical from BBC TV), but he soon rejoined Radio 4, where he remains today.

In 1995 he became an announcer on Channel 4 (where he may have also worked during his sabbatical from BBC TV), but he soon rejoined Radio 4, where he remains today. In recent years he has also announced (along with BBC TV and radio veterans David Allan and Charles Nove) for the British version of the History Channel.
He enjoys fell walking in the Lake District and sailing, and is characterised by his mature, husky voice, warm, clear and uniquely modulated, with precise pronunciation.
