Although the history of the village likely preceded Dutch Formosa rule, its existence was first recorded during this time as "Pourompon". This gave rise to the Chinese name of "dalangbeng" (大浪泵) when the area came under the rule of the Qing empire. The name was once again changed in 1802 (7th year of
