History


Compiz Fusion is the result of the re-unification of the Beryl-project and the community around the Compiz Window Manager. The name was changed to Compiz Fusion from the tentative name of CompComm.

On October 18, 2007 Ubuntu 7.10 followed by using Compiz Fusion as the default window manager on supported hardware.

On February 4, 2009, it was announced that a five-member Compiz Council of leading developers would guide future development and releases of Compiz, and that Compiz Fusion would be discontinued as a separate project.
