'''Columbia National Forest''' was established in [[Washington (U.S. state)|Washington]] by the [[U.S. Forest Service]] on July 1, 1908 when it was established from part of [[Rainier National Forest]] with {{convert|941440|acre|km2}}. On June 15, 1949 it was renamed [[Gifford Pinchot National Forest]] in honor of the forestry pioneer [[Gifford Pinchot]].
