Background

Colleen is the town interfing busybody , known as a "sticky beak" who is quick to judge, but she also has a heart of gold. She is often prone to malapropisms.

Her main claim to fame was winning the 'Miss Groper Pageant' in 1959, which she regularly boasts about and which she re-introduced to Summer Bay
Summer Bay

Growing up she had an abusive father (who physically abused both her and her mother) and an alcoholic mother. Growing up, she saw how happy the Stewart family were and dreamt of being a Stewart, her dream came true when she discovered she was always a Stewart, due to an affair between her mother and Alf and Morag's father. She has sinced dived into her new role as a Stewart by "helping" various members of the family at every opportunity; much to the dismay of Morag.

Storylines

Colleen hasn't been involved in any major story lines of her own, only playing a small part in others. She usually plays the part of comic relief. When she first arrived it was always a small part in her son Lance's major story lines.

In February 2008, Colleen was taken hostage by Johnny Cooper. Colleen burst into the Summer Bay house in the early hours of the morning. Johnny let her go but stabbed Sally. Colleen was very upset, but was pleased when Sally pulled through. She now knows that Cassie is pregnant after telling Cassie that she's put on a little bit of weight and Cassie then went up to Colleen and said "Actually Mrs Smart I am pregnant." Colleen then congratulated Cassie and then told Leah and Leah was happy for Cassie. However Colleen has a dark secret which could destroy her friendship with others. She was apprehensive about Cassie because she is HIV Positive at first, not being fully aware about it. Though at the same time sympathised with her.

New brother and sister

In March 2008; due to earth tremors around Summer Bay, the War Memorial cracked open and revealed a time capsule, Colleen persuaded the Historic Society to open it and inside it, was a diary. In the diary, it was revealed that Colleen's mother had a fling with Alf

 finally, after all these years, got married to her one true solemate. Colleen even gave Morag her something borrowed but Morag was horrified at the thought of wearing it. Her sister Morag has now returned to the bay after her honeymoon. Morag has now accepted Colleen as her sister. She is happy how helpful Colleen is to her niece Martha in getting though her breast cancer.
