. He became famous for making first accusations about the governor's elaborate Las Vegas trips, and his infidelity to his wife. Vindrine was shot and killed in broad daylight on the steps of the Caddo Parish court house in down town Shreveport.
At the time he was defending a woman who had recently separated from her husband, James Cummings. Cummings believed Vidrine and his wife were having an affair. Cummings stated that he on was only at the Federal Court House (not the Parish Court House) because of a bankruptcy hearing where he and his estranged wife were to appear. Cummings stated that Vidrine had threatened him in the past and that Vidrine had reached for a gun when he shot him. The story that he was waiting across the street in his car for them to arrive contradicts Cummings version of what happened. When she and Vidrine arrived, her husband open fired three times with a 12 gauge shotgun, killing Vidrine and leaving her untouched.
