 and the store inaugurated under this new banner. In the late 1980s/early 1990s, the Famous Players theatre was expanded to twelve screens. Steinberg went bankrupt in 1992. Unlike most stores which were sold, the Centre Laval location was not sold and was closed instead, as Club Biz took the former Steinberg space shortly thereafter. Woolco became the current Walmart in 1994 after F.W. Woolworth Company sold Woolco

Ownership

The Nihon Group held Centre Laval from 1998 to 2002, when the Alexis Nihon Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) was created. Four years later, in April 2007, Homburg Invest Inc. acquired Alexis

Nihon REIT and thereby officially took ownership of the shopping centre. Since May 2010, Centre Laval has been held by Homburg Canada Real Estate Investment Trust, now operating under the corporate name of CANMARC Real Estate Investment Trust.
