Fight Summary

The champion Carl Froch started off slow in the opening rounds against the much more agile Jermain Taylor, the former Undisputed champion Taylor landed at will hammering Froch with swift and powerful combinations. The challenger continued to stalk and land effective punches against the champion, eventually knocking Froch down in the third round with a devastating right hand. Recovering Froch soon afterwards switched roles and started to mount an offensive, landing a couple of unanswered punches against the increasingly defensive Jermain Taylor. Froch continued to hammer away at Taylor's body and head also backing up and trapping the challenger in the corner continuously whilst landing effective punches. The fight came to a conclusion nearing the end of the final round when Froch trapped Taylor in the corner again, landing two solid right hands sending Taylor crashing to the canvas. A recovering Taylor was no match for the rejuvenated Carl Froch as Taylor was pushed against the ropes and absorbed a devastating barrage of punches by the champion Froch, causing the referee to stop the fight with fourteen seconds remaining giving Froch the win by KO and retaining his WBC super middleweight title.
