Formed after the break-up of Shotgun & Jaybird

, the twosome originally began playing as Blue Heeler, but changed to the name Calm Down It's Monday some time over the winter of 2007-2008.

Their music consists primarily of Squire's songs from Shotgun & Jaybird as well as his solo material, though during NXNE they played several songs original to Calm Down It's Monday. This has caused some confusion when they have been billed as Julie Doiron.

The band's first release consisted of two songs, "The Sweetest May" and "Monumental", which appeared on a split single in May 2009 with two tracks from Doiron's album I Can Wonder What You Did with Your Day
