 northwest to Lorain, was built by the Elyria and Black River Railway around 1870. The rest of the line, from Elyria southeast to Sterling, opened by 1873 as part of the Lake Shore and Tuscarawas Valley Railroad. The entire line became part of the B&O and CSX through leases and mergers.
