Murder conviction

Eithun was convicted of murdering Magne Andreassen, a gay man, by fatally stabbing him in Lillehammer

 on 21 August 1992. The murder occurred near the park which eventually held the opening ceremonies of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Faust was sentenced to fourteen years imprisonment, but was released in 2003 after serving nine years and four months.

 was a friend of Eithun at the time, and later remarked "the situation that Faust was in wasn't a good experience. He felt that he was attacked. He was in shock".

The verdict states that Andreassen, unarmed, approached Eithun in central Lillehammer and suggested they take a walk together. Eithun agreed, and followed Andreassen to the olympic park. Andreassens body was discovered the following day with 37 stab wounds and massive head injury as a result of being repeatedly kicked.
