It is the result of a merger in 1993 between the National Office Machine Dealers Association (NOMDA) (formerly the National Association of Typewriter and Office Machine Dealers) and Local Area Network Dealers Association (LANDA).

BTA publishes Office Technology magazine and BTA Hotline Online and provides benchmarking studies and reports and educational offerings.
