Mid-way through the 1997 season the club rebranded itself as Bucheon SK, and at the start of the 2001 season moved to the 35,545 seater Bucheon Stadium.

Surprise move to Jeju Island

In 2006, the owners of SK made the surprise decision to relocate to Jeju

Following the move, former fans of Bucheon FC began a movement to establish a brand new Bucheon side. The initial goal was to create a team for participation in the 2007 Korea National League season, however they joined the K3 League
