Brookdale is an open-admission college, available to anyone 18 years of age or older, or anyone who is a high school graduate or holder of an equivalency diploma. It serves the residents of Monmouth County and surrounding communities. One in every three Monmouth County high school graduates attend Brookdale. The College offers Associate degrees in more than 60 programs, plus non-credit classes and certificate programs.

Accreditation

Brookdale is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Lincroft campus

The Lincroft campus consists of 22 buildings, including the Center for the Visual Arts, the Center for World War II Studies, and the Donald D. Warner Student Life Center. The newly-renovated Robert J. Collins Arena/Brookdale Recreation and Events Center holds special events, including conventions, concerts, and athletic competitions.

The Lincroft campus is home to the Monmouth Museum, the Brookdale Performing Arts Center, and Brookdale Public Radio (WBJB-FM). These institutions offer performances, National Public Radio, and music.

Outreach, Business and Community Development

The Outreach, Business and Community Development division offers short-term career training and professional development programs, lifelong learning experiences, workshops, conferences, and summer camps to the community. Continuing education course catalogs are published three times a year, in December, May and August.

Criminal investigation

In early 2011, President Peter Burnham and Finance Director George Fehr were suspended without pay pending the outcome of a criminal investigation into allegations of fraud after an annual audit revealed spending irregularities. Burnham subsequently resigned. The criminal investigation is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
