History

The station was opened on 18 July 1850, and both the main platform building and the 1877 pedestrian bridge are Grade II listed. The station was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

On Sundays, there is an hourly main line service and one every two hours along the Vale of Glamorgan line.

There is no Sunday service to Maesteg.
