 created by Guy Endore-Kaiser and Rodd Perry. Brevity originally began on Comics Sherpa (a site which helps beginning comic strips make their work public over the web). It debuted in 55 newspapers on January 3, 2005. Today, Brevity is published in over 130 newspapers in the USA and Canada. There are currently two published collection of Brevity comics called "Brevity" and "Brevity 2".

The comic strip's name presumably comes from the William Shakespeare quote "Brevity is the soul of wit."

The comic itself is somewhat different from many other comics in papers today, though it bears many similarities to Gary Larson's strip The Far Side
