In 2007, the Vikings defense finished the season 1st in the NFL in rushing yards allowed, giving up an average of 74.1 rushing yards per game. For the 2nd consecutive season, the DT duo of Kevin Williams and Pat Williams earned Pro Bowl recognition. In addition to its dominance against the run, the Vikings defensive line put up points against the opponents’ passing games as Kevin Williams tied a Vikings franchise record with his 4th defensive return for a TD, after returning 2 interceptions for scores in 2007. The 2006 Vikings ranked #1 in the NFL in rushing defense, set a team record and ranked 2nd in the NFL since the 1970 merger by allowing 985 yards, an average of 61.6 yards per game.

In his most recent role, Daly worked with the Villanova

 defensive linemen in 2005. He spent the 1999 season working with the TEs. The ’99 Wildcats went 7–4 and Talley posted his 100th victory at the school. Daly coached TEs at Division I-AA Illinois State in 2004 when the Redbirds led the Gateway Conference in passing offense.

His longest tenure came during a 3-season stint from 2001–03 at Oklahoma State University where he worked on both sides of the ball and in strength and conditioning with the Cowboys program. Daly’s 1st exposure to major Division I football came asan offensive graduate assistant at Maryland in 2000 where he worked with the TEs. Before coaching at Villanova in 1999 Daly got his first taste of collegiate coaching at his alma mater in 1998 at Drake.

His first position after graduating from Drake was in 1997 coaching and teaching at Ridgewood High in New Port
Richey, FL. Daly earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Drake and came to Des Moines from Springfield, IL where he attended Sacred Heart-Griffin High.
