A 1596 census revealed a population of 165 people. In 1945 it had a population of 510. An elementary school for boys was located in the village which was founded in 1934. The village also had its own mosque. Today, three khirbats containing the foundations of houses, fragments of columns, cisterns, caves carved in rock, burial places etc remain.
