Bank of America Merrill Lynch achieved the second highest revenues of any investment bank in 2010, with a global market share of 6.8 per cent. In 2010 it achieved the highest revenues of any investment bank worldwide in both leveraged loans and asset-backed securities.

History

Bank of America completed the acquisition of Merrill Lynch & Co on 1 January 2009. In April 2010 Bank of America Merrill Lynch appointed Christian Meissner as head of investment banking for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Bank of America Merrill Lynch achieved a reported profit of $724m in the fourth-quarter of 2010.

Organization

Bank of America Merrill Lynch is organised within four geographic divisions: Asia Pacific; Europe, Middle East & Africa; Latin America and U.S. & Canada.
