. The stadium is named after Evandro Almeida, who was a Remo's football player and employee. The nickname Baenão is a reference to the place where the stadium is located, called Travessa Antônio Baena.

History

In 1917, the works on Baenão were completed. The inaugural match was played on August 15 of that year, when Liga Paraense de Futebol (which was an all-stars team of Pará state) beat Reserva Naval 2-0. The first goal of the stadium was scored by Liga Paraense de Futebol's Aranha, who was a Brasil Esporte Clube player.

The stadium's attendance record currently stands at 27,200, set on September 14, 1972 when Remo and Vasco da Gama
