History

The club was founded as Associação Atlética Cabofriense, then the team changed its name to Associação Desportiva Cabofriense. Associação Desportiva Cabofriense went bankrupt, and was replaced by Cabo Frio Futebol Clube. In 2001, Cabo Frio changed its name back to Associação Desportiva Cabofriense.
