Early years and education

Tanna grew up in South East London and graduated from Portsmouth University with a degree in English and Literary Studies. Her career in journalism began in 1998 as a district reporter for the Watford Observer. She is retraining part-time (2010) to become a Primatologist at Roehampton University

In July she travelled to Uganda to film, produce and report on the work that conservationists are doing. BBC Earth News ran her story about a goat scheme helping to safeguard the lives of wild chimpanzees in the Budono Forest in West Uganda.
