This project was instrumental in bringing network connectivity to Indian students and researchers in late 80s and early 90s.

His main research area used to be TCP/IP. Now he has moved into wireless networking focusing on sensor networks.

He has been an elected Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering since 1999 and an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy
