Núñez served as rebel captain in the forces of Ernesto Che Guevara. After rebel commander Humbert Sori Marin was executed in 1961 he took over the position of Minister of Agrarian Reform. Núñez’s died on September 13, 1998. His work is highly respected in Cuban government circles and his data considered official by some international agencies.
