He went on to be nominated for "Best Compère" and "Best Break-through Act" at the 2005 Chortle Awards. He returned to the Edinburgh Fringe during the same year with a new solo show Comedy With Sad Bits and returned in 2006 with Introducing An Introduction To Alun Cochrane's Imagination.

In November 2011 Cochrane mentioned on Absolute Radio that he is colour blind. The condition threatened to cut short his career in Comedy as he was accused of racially inappropriate jokes at a comedy club in Leeds. He was later told of his skin colour and the problem stopped almost immediately.
