. It is expected to consist of songs recorded between 1993 and 1996, which Cuomo considers "the Pinkerton years."

Cuomo confirmed to SPIN that Alone III: The Pinkerton Years would be released in December 2010. He also noted that the album would be released at the same time as a book titled The Pinkerton Diaries containing journals, emails, letters and articles written by Cuomo. Cuomo also noted his plans to release Alone IV, Alone V, and Alone VI.

On January 27, 2011, Rivers uploaded a video to his YouTube channel confirming that the album would finally be available in March or April 2011.

On April 6th, Rivers Cuomos personal assistant Sarah C. Kim stated that Cuomo's home recording of the Pinkerton B-Side "Devotion" has been included as a last minute addition to Alone III: The Pinkerton Years.
