The Awazem is a influential tribe in Kuwaiti politics. The tribe has an especially strong base in the first electoral district (in the Kuwait City metropolitan area), where it forms about 14% of the voters, and the fifth electoral district (in the south of the country), where it accounts for about 21% of voters.
Six of the fifty elected parliamentarians in the Kuwait National Assembly belong to the Awazem tribe.
