Ahad Hosseini(Persian
احد حسيني) (born 14 August 1944 in Tabriz) is an Iranian Azerbaijani
sculptor and painter
.
He was born in 1944 in Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan Province, located at Northwest of Iran. He started sculpture after completing his secondary school where he loved painting more than any other lessons. During the 2 year military service, he worked as teacher-soldier in a small mountain village located at Northern Coast of Iran. Feeling of loneliness in this remote village directed him to find his talent in sculpture.
Reading psychology, philosophy, history, art history, biography of well known personalities, and painting had filled his free times there. For his first experiences he worked out statues of Einstein, Bertrand Russell, Beethoven, and Dr. Albert Schweitzer. Then he worked for a short period in Parviz Tanavoli's atelier in Tehran.
He started visiting foreign countries including Italy and France In 1972. He studied arts in Italy as the student of Florence's Fine Arts Academy. After returning to Tabriz, he closed the atelier's door to everybody since 1975 till 1980 and there he creates his first work "Misery Around the World" and presents them to Azerbaijan Museum
. The work is made of bronze and consists of more than 10 collections of different episodes and still can be visited at the basement floor of Azerbaijan Museum
.
Since 1980 till 1982 he teaches sculpture in Tabriz and edits a book titled "What is Art?".
Then lives for Turkey and makes some sculpture to the order of Istanbul University
. His work "Thinking Man" is in Istanbul University Faculty of Political Sciences.
In 1984 Ahad admits to the School of Decorative Arts of Paris (École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs
) and studies and works there for 6 years. There he explores something that's name is "form". In 1993 he makes about 60 masks for the well known show of Leyegue for France's Television.
Hoseini has had many art fairs in France's different cities including:
Hoseini has awarded prizes in sculpture. Among them have been Charles Esrade [?], Morangis City's Award, and the award for sculpture conquer in Netherlands, set by the School of Decorative Arts of Paris.
Creating of Mona Lisa's Statue
"I have been attracted to the smile of Jeconde, the roundness of her face, the smile, and many other geometric mysteries ..." Ahad Says. "Making the statue of her had filled up my mind" he continues. For the first time he makes a small statue of Mona Liza, and then he makes a bigger one in its natural height in the School of Decorative Arts of Paris.
