A380 road
|
| |
|
| |
The A380 is a trunk road in Southern England, connecting the Torbay area to A38, and hence to the rest of the United Kingdom's main road network.
The A380 leaves the A38 at Kennford, some from that road's junction with the M5 motorway, and from the centre of the city of Exeter. It then proceeds in a generally southerly direction, climbing over the Haldon Hills before descending past the village of Kingsteignton and town of Newton Abbot, where it meets the A381.
Beyond Newton Abbot, the road passes through the village of Kingskerswell before bypassing the large seaside resort of Torquay.

Torquay is served by the A3022 that loops off the A380. The A380 finally ends at Collaton St Mary, inland from Paignton, where it meets the A3022 (again) and the A385.
The road is a dual carriageway from the A38 as far as Newton Abbot, but mostly single carriageway thereafter. There are plans to alleviate traffic problems on the stretch of the A380 that runs through Kingskerswell by the construction of a by-pass. The proposal awaits authorisation by the Department for Transport, but the provisional timescale indicates that construction should start in 2010, for completion in 2013.
