The .32 Short Colt was based on the .320 but had a different sized rim. On some guns the Short Colt will actually fit and cycle properly. However modern 32 colt ammunition should never be used in a black powder firearm. Reloading using reliable published data and a black powder substitute like Pyrodex can be safe and successful. Some reloaders report modifying the rim of .32 short brass or using .32 acp brass. .32 short brass works on this writer's Bulldog as shipped.
