Synopsis


$9.99 has three main plotlines whose characters intersect. Young Dave Peck is a philosopher who prefers the search for the meaning of life

 to the search for gainful employment, much to his father Jim's frustration. In a magazine Dave finds an advertisement for a book that will tell him the meaning of life "for the low price of $9.99." He is fascinated, but none of his neighbours show much interest. They have their own problems.
