Description

Overview:
The Ring Nebula is a nubula located inside the constellation Lyra atthe coordinates Right Ascension 18 53.6 and Declination 33 02. It is 2,300 light years fromthe planet Earth making it the 17th furthest Messier catalog object from Earth. It has a size of 1.4 x 1.0 arc minutes.

Designation:
The Ring Nebula is one of twelve nebulae included in the Messier Catalog of deep sky objects. It is known by the Messier number M57. It has an NGC catalog number of NGC 6720.

Discoverer:
The Ring Nebula was discovered by Antoine Darquier de Pellepoix in 1779.

Brightness:
Compared to other nebulaeof the galaxy, Ring Nebula is a relatively bright nebula with a visual magnitude of 8.8.
