Description

Overview:
The Dumbbell Nebula is a nubula which is located in the constellation Vulpecula atthe coordinates Right Ascension 19 59.6 and Declination 22 43. It is 1,205 light years fromthe planet Earth making it the 6th furthest Messier Object from Earth. It has a size of 8.0 x 5.7 arc minutes.

Designation:
The Dumbbell Nebula is one of twelve nebulae included in the Messier Catalog of deep sky objects. It is known by the Messier number M27. It has an NGC catalog number of NGC 6853.

Discoverer:
The Dumbbell Nebula was discovered by the astronomer Charles Messier in 1764.

Brightness:
Compared to other nebulae, Dumbbell Nebula is a relatively luminous nebula with a visual magnitude of 7.4.
