Description

Overview:
The Crab Nebula is a nubula located inside the constellation Taurus atthe coordinates RA 05 34.5 and Declination 22 01. It is 6,300 light years fromthe planet Earth making it the 38th furthest Messier catalog object from Earth. It has an angular size of 6 x 4 arc minutes.

Designation:
The Crab Nebula is one of 12 nebulae included in the Messier Catalog of deep sky objects. It is known by the Messier Catalog number M1. It has an NGC catalog number of NGC 1952.

Discoverer:
The Crab Nebula was discovered by the astronomer John Bevis in 1731.

Brightness:
Compared to other nebulaeof the galaxy, Crab Nebula is a relatively bright nebula with a visual magnitude of 8.4.
