Description

Overview:
Messier Object M57 is a Planetary Nebula which was discovered by Antoine Darquier de Pellepoix in 1779. It has an angular size of 1.4 x 1.0 arc minutes.

Location:
M57 is located inside the constellation Lyra at RA 18 53.6 and Declination 33 02. It is 2,300 light years from the planet Earth making it the 17th furthest Messier Object from Earth.

Brightness:
Compared to the other objects from the Messier catalog, M57 is a dim deep sky object with a visual magnitude of 8.8.
