The Messier Object M43 is a Diffuse Nebula which was discovered by Jean-Jacques Dortous de Mairan before 1731. It has an angular size of 20 x 15 arc minutes.

Location:
M43 is located inside the constellation Orion at Right Ascension 05 35.6 and Declination -05 16. It is 1,600 light years from the planet Earth making it the 9th furthest Messier Object from Earth.
