The Messier Object M40 is a Cluster which was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764. It has an angular size of 0.8 arc minutes.

Location:
M40 is located inside the constellation Ursa Major at RA 12 22.4 and Declination 58 05. It is 510 light years from the planet Earth which makes it the 2nd furthest Messier Object from Earth.

Brightness:
Compared to the other Messier Objects, M40 is a dim deep space object with a brightness rating of 8.4.
