The Messier Object M23 is a Open Cluster which was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764. It has an angular size of 27 arc minutes.

M23 is located within the borders of the constellation Sagittarius at Right Ascension 17 56.8 and Declination -19 01. It is 2,150 light years from the planet Earth making it the 16th furthest Messier Object from Earth.
