The Messier Object M16 is a Cluster with Nebula which was discovered by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux in 1745-1746. It has an angular size of 7 arc minutes.

Location:
M16 is located within the borders of the constellation Serpens at RA 18 18.8 and Declination -13 47. It is 7,000 light years from the planet Earth which makes it the 39th furthest Messier Object from Earth.
