The Messier Object M12 is a Globular Cluster which was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764. It has an angular size of 14.5 arc minutes.

Location:
M12 is located within the borders of the constellation Ophiuchus at RA 16 47.2 and Declination -01 57. It is 16,000 light years from the planet Earth which makes it the 47th furthest Messier Object from Earth.

Brightness:
Compared to other objects from the Messier catalog, M12 is a bright deep space object with a visual magnitude of 6.7.
