The Sunflower Galaxy is a galaxy which is located in the constellation Canes Venatici at the coordinates Right Ascension 13 15.8 and Declination 42 02. It is 37,000,000 light years from the planet Earth making it the 86th furthest Messier catalog object from Earth. It has an angular size of 10 x 6 arc minutes.

Designation:
The Sunflower Galaxy is one of 12 galaxies included in the Messier Catalog of deep sky objects. It is known by the Messier Catalog number M63. It has an NGC catalog number of NGC 5055.

Discoverer:
The Sunflower Galaxy was discovered by the astronomer Pierre Méchain in 1779.
