Overview:
The Black Eye Galaxy is a galaxy which is located within the borders of the constellation Coma Berenices at the coordinates Right Ascension 12 56.7 and Declination 21 41. It is 19,000,000 light years from the planet Earth making it the 80th furthest Messier catalog object from Earth. It has an angular size of 9.3 x 5.4 arc minutes.

Designation:
The Black Eye Galaxy is one of 12 galaxies included in Charles Messier's Catalog of deep sky objects. It is known by the Messier number M64. It has an NGC catalog number of NGC 4826.

Discoverer:
The Black Eye Galaxy was discovered by the astronomer Edward Pigott in 1779.

Brightness:
Compared to other galaxies, Black Eye Galaxy is a relatively bright galaxy with a visual magnitude of 8.5.
