I saw the drama on the beeb last year,and it was very tastefully done, although if one was true it could have been made a little raunchier. Yes, the period this was set in wouldn't necessarilly have allowed it,yet what happens behind closed doors or in the countryside,is or will be down to the partisipants only.

Sappho of greece momentarily, was she(ann lister) the only
known sapphic lady of note? Also it seems that she was well known as being a lesbian,at least in the Halifax area and york (at her school), assuming she was careful in her
"administrations" it looked as though it was 'allowed' in that period, was it?
