Hi. my name is Michele Yonda. On p. 16 of the book The Descendents of Thomas Hutchinson of Southhold it says that Col. Thomas Hutchinson is probable ancestor of Thomas Hutchinson of Southhold. When I put my information in the computer about them it was coming up they were of royal descent. I am a direct descendent of Thomas Hutchinson. If I put his name in the computer it goes back 1000 yrs on world roots.com to descendents of a scottish prince. I used to be able to find multiple royal lines on Bridgette- Gastell Loyd royalty pages but she updated it and I can't find the pages. I think you are descended from Mary Tudor, And or Mary Queen of Scotts, Charlotte Bourbon fron the french royals , Prince William the Silent and the Van Nassau family. My grandmother's first cousin was a historian, she wrote the book mentioned above. You probably will be able to find some stuff on worldroots.com. Sincerely, Michele Yonda

More specifically, a great grandson of Benjamin Hutchinson of Baiting Hollow, N.Y. wrote that the family record is as follows; Sir Thomas Hutchinson of Nottinghamshire 1600, Col. John Hutchinson, George Hutchinson married Anne of Derby, Benjamin Hutchinson, Benjamin Hutchinson, married Theodosia Smith.(Thoedosia Smith was a relation of the famous Smith family of Smithtown Long Island). Jane Hutchinson writes in her book,"The Descendents of Thomas Hutchinson of Southhold, N.Y.1666-1982", Col . John Hutchinson, son of Sir Thomas and Margaret(Byron) Hutchinson of Owthorpe, County of Nottingham England, was baptised 18 Sep 1615 Nottingham. He married Lucy Apsley 3 July 1638 at London he died in England in 1664. They had 10 children. I will just list their names not exact quote, Thomas, Edward, John, a daughter unknown, Lucius, John, Barbara, Lucy, Margaret and Alice. In Jane's book she says you are not a relation of Thomas Hutchinson of Southhold, but if thast were true then why would Benjamin Hutchinson have Col. John Hutchinson as his relation in his family records. I can trace the family back to Thomas Hutchinson but if Bridgette Gastel Loyd's family records weren't off-line you could get a thorough trace. This is because the nobility and royalty records are very detailed on her lists. You probably are still related to some of the royalty I mentioned at least through marriage. Leo Van de Pass has Col. John Hutchinson on his family tree records but not much detail. Sincerely, your probable distant relative Michele Yonda.

I'm sure you meen ancestor!
Many years ago , in the early 1970s I knew John Hutchinson , an excellent gentleman who was the landlord of the Red Lion Inn at Stathern , not that far in fact from Owthorpe where the Colonel is buried.
John was the direct descendant of the Colonel and from time to time showed us some of the family documents. He knew all about the Colonel and his connections. He also wore a signet ring which he believed to be the one used to sign the King's death warrant.
He died in 1975 and his wife Muriel died soon after.I did hear stories of an estranged son but they might just have been rumours. My wife went to John's funeral and there was no family present to her knowledge.
Unfortunately the ring and many other articles went missing after Murie's death.I have a shrewd suspicion where they went but have no evidence to support it.
