Working Conditions at Surfside Buslines

I have worked in two other transport yards before I worked at Surfside Buslines. Both of these yards had some small operational problems that some bus drivers would consider minor, but I found that Surfside Buslines had some MAJOR operational issues that made the job close to impossible, unsafe and unworkable. Firstly their bus drivers are frequently threatened, abused and even assaulted by some passengers. If a driver refuses to carry a troublesome passenger, the passengers telephone the surfside management and the driver has to answer to false and defaming allegations sometimes from anonymous people. Sometimes bus drivers are even SACKED as a result of false allegations made over the telephone from anonymous passengers.
Because Surfside buslines management accepts these rediculous false complaints from troublemakers it creates a situation that causes buses to run late which causes passengers to miss other bus and train connections, this can put passengers at risk when standing around at connection points waiting for the next bus. Secondly There was an accident recently where a child was bullied on a Surfside buslines school bus, the child left the bus before his stop to get away from the kids bullying him. These kids also left the bus to follow him. He ran out onto the road to get away from them and was hit by a passing car and seriously injured. The bus driver had no authority to step in and control this situation. THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD TRUST THIS COMPANY TO TAKE MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL, THEIR WORK PRACTICES ARE JUST TOO DANGEROUS. Surfside management takes away any authority of the bus driver which subsequently puts passengers at risk from troublemakers.
Bus drivers at Surfside buslines also have to put up with unworkable timetables which make the drivers speed to try to keep on time or lose their meal break to catch up their time.
When the bus drivers meal break comes up,the bus is so late that the driver has to ignore his meal break and drive continuously sometimes up to 14 hours without stopping. No meal, toilet break the driver sytays in the bus for 14 hours. At the end of the day the driver has worked 2 hours UNPAID
I strongly suggest to anyone looking for a job as a bus driver to avoid Surfside Buslines.

I totally agree with yr article and if possible would like to meet in person to compare knowledge of wrong doing of what you speak of. From one concerned Bus Driver to another would it be possible to catch up?

Hi Busdriver8465 , I would like to thank you for your support, due to my location it might not be possible for me to meet you. I think it would be a good idea to air their "dirty laundry" here. I will start
SPECIAL HIRE
The Special Hire forms should have enough information for the driver to do the hire without any problems. The "special hire" forms at Surfside have the pickup point, the pick up time and the destination of the hire. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE RETURN TIME and many schools take advantage of this by going well over the "safe" return time thereby clashing with the other school pickup times and the drivers are expected to be in 2 different places at the same time. UNWORKABLE At one school where I did the afternoon school run from, the bus students were kept back by the headmaster for 1 hour and 20 minutes past the departure time. As I had not done that school run before I thought it was a redundant run due to a new school opening up in the same area, so after finding the administration office unattended I left the school more than 15 minutes behind time. I was later told more than an hour later that I had left 35 students behind. I was told by another driver at another company that this is a continuing problem with this school. My shift also had the last train connection on it so I thought that keeping on time was extremely important. A member of Surfside management told me that "It does not matter if you do not make the train connection" (Quote from Paul Logan of sufside management) so basically he is saying that he does not care if paying passengers have to wait for more than 8 hours on a railway platform overnight. To me that is totally unacceptable.
