Hi, I am the Author of the above named history work on Barbara Crawford Thompson. A very odd happening came my way in October 2007 some some four years after printing 100 copies of my work, more as a thesis than as a book. I sent 90 copies to the UK, Australia and New Zealand's major Libraries and Universities [gratis] for the sake of opening up the truth of this young lady's history. Taken from her home at 11 years 10 months and then stranded with headhunters for five long years from age 13, forced to be a bride to a cannibal and having to leave her child or children behind when she was rescued. This was just a small part of her history that was covered up for Victorian moral and compensatory reasons.

I have opened up a 160 year mystery and was lucky enough to be found by the descendants of Barbara's two "missing" sisters Mary [16] and Ann [14] who disappeared at the same time as Barbara. Nobody ever found the two older girls, not even my self, they found me on October 21st 2007 and for the first time came to learn about Barbara's ordeal. Once told of the drama, the descendants began calling the Torres Strait in the hope of finding a native relative.

Again strange circumstances occur when Ray Mears is in the Torres Strait at that very time and the natives have been telling him of Barbara Crawford Thompson's time on their island. He was informed of the relative calling and he contacted the relative only to find that all she knew of the story had come from my book. Yes, a small amount of information was available to the public in the diary of John MacGillivray [one of her rescuers] but nothing like that which has remained hidden for 160 years.

I have uncovered her History Mystery and thanks to the Ray Mears Goes Walkabout Show, a Self-Published Historian is enjoying the fact that his work is now being recognized albeit in a small way. My work can be found by Google the full Title or my name.
