Why does chemical formula of hydro oxide written as OH but other like calciam oxide and carbon di oxide written as
CaO and CO2 does we can not write hydro oxide in the form of HO at the place of OH

OH is hydroxide, a polyatomic ion-like a cakemix rather than an ingredient to add to make a cake [flour, sugar, etcetera]. The name of this polyatomic ion made of 2 nonmetals is hydroxide. CO is carbon monoxide, and CO2 is carbon dioxide. These are not ions. The carbon and oxygen are seperete ingredients and the ingredient left most on periodic table is first in the name. this is like homemade cake-stronger covalent bond, and think of water H2O dihydrogen oxide
