Why do I love America more than I love Britain?

I am British ,but since 1999 I have been taking all my vacations in the US. This year will be the 9th time I have visited America and since 1999 it is the only country that I am interested in seeing. I love everything about America, but especially the spectacular scenery and the friendliness of all the Americans that I've met. Although I'm British I just don't feel the same way about Britain as I do about America. I often wish that I had been born an American because for me America is simply the greatest country on the planet.

We are the greatest country on the planet and you are more than welcome here. Be advised: freedom ain't free though and Americans are fighting for it as we speak so roll up your sleeves and dig right in. There's plenty of work to go around.
as they say in my neck of the woods
damn glad to know ya!

It is empty headed cretins like you,aobo223, that has made Britain such a rotten place to live in. You cannot even speak or write properly in English so you must be an immigrant. You people should be kicked out of the country and sent back to the slums where you came from.

Hi j0n1,
Please don't think that I was insulting you. I was extremely angry at aobo223 who probably came to Britain from some Third World country and is milking the Welfare State. I genuinely LOVE the US and only wish I could live there. From my experience American people are decent and friendly and I know that is true of you also,j0n1. Take care my friend and I send you my very best wishes.

It is possible to love the country in which you were born, no matter how rich or poor that country may be. It's HOME.

I have often heard Americans, quote,"America is the greatest country in the world"... Based on what?. Compared to what other country or countries? I would be most interested to know how you calculate your assessment.
I look forward to your qualified answer.

I am a conservative and a patriot and a TEA party member which makes me a terrorist, a hobbit and a racist among other heinous things. It also makes my position on history and ideology fairly obvious.
you can calculate based on your understanding of what ever that means to you.

Since you seem to think that the argument for American greatness is doomed to fail, the argument is pointless. If you do not like America, that is your prerogative. We don't need your acceptance or approval though you might try e-mailing your disapproval to our president. No doubt he will be certain to bow to your discontent at the first available opportunity or perhaps schedule a tax payer funded vacation to your town thus redistributing a bit more of our wealth. His time is limited however so you might want to get on that.

The greatest thing about America is that the system is designed to empower the citizenry while limiting the federal gov't. That has been corrupted but there is a massive grassroots movement to correct the situation. We need only find representatives with spine and contempt for statist strategies and we will succeed.
In America the poorest man man become the richest and the richest man may lose it all based on their personal decisions, abilities, creativity and behavior. We own land and do with it as we please. We own guns and protect ourselves not only from those who would harm us but also from tyrannical oppressive gov't. We create. We take what the world throws away and give back hard working, cheerful, charitable citizens.
Though America has strayed from the underpinnings of our success and freedom, the very system we created after booting monarchy from our shores gives us strong tools to regain what has been lost.
All countries struggle from time to time. We are struggling now. The best steel is forged in the hottest fire and American steel is better than any other because our Constitution gives the citizens control of the bellows.

I applaud you for your believes, belonging to a political party irrespective who they are does not automatically make you or anyone else a Terrorist.
The world needs a strong America,it doesn't need an America with politicians, who's only aim it seems is for personal financial gain.
To be powerful does not make you right, it makes you important but not necessarily wise..
My reason in asking how you come to the conclusion that "Americas is the greatest country in the world" is how do you know? How do you compare? Have you lived in other countries, do know what other countries politics and programmes are? IE,Health,Welfare Systems,Law and order,Schooling,University's, equal rights a free press, freedom to express your opinion. and so on.

"The right to bear arms" second amendment? In you constitution.Surely that was intended for your own protection, written in what 1778. That amendment was at a time when it took a minute to load the musket, and you were defending your country, not only from the Haughty Brits, but from the original Americans, who, naturally were upset at you for stealing their land.

Which amendment states you can kill at will.

I don't follow, what did you gain from booting out the Monarchy?and what are you so determined to regain? Incidentally, just for the record. The Brits kicked the Brits out from America.
