Not sure why they were naked, but we ask the question because we were subsumed into Jewish creation myth and a Christian heritage with a monastic fear of the body.
People who adopt Celibacy don't claim to be balanced in the world where woman meets man in the flesh. The flesh is a threat and even the Renaissance painters covered up coital parts of the body.
There is something earthy and sweet about the Greek stories and a fair bit of violence. We are the richer for contemplating other's creation myths.
I enjoy Australian aboriginal creation stories as each person/family has his own unique creation myth which must be entwined with that of others by proper living.
